Marlene:
I did a show with Stephen Conte about 2 years ago (the one on ancestral
quilts and samplers) plus my library owns several others from the "Family
Historian" series. The programs, which also run on a local public
television station, are 30 minutes long, so there isn't a great deal of time
to discuss the subjects in-depth. But if you have researchers who would like
a quick introduction to some of the subjects, many are worthwhile. Our
patrons have found several of Mr. Conte's programs, such as how to get
started in genealogy, how to do Cuban genealogy, the Waldensians (Protestant
Italians) of Northern Italy, etc., helpful.
You may want to try ILL-ing a few before you buy.

Subject: [Genealib] family historian dvds
Our library received a flyer from Stephen Conte promoting his VHS/DVDs from
a show called Family Historian. I have not heard of this show. Does anyone
know of the quality of these videos and if they are worth the $20 price tag
for each 30 minute video? Would patrons find the information they are
looking for? There were 61 titles listed and some of the titles would be
nice to add to the library's collection. It said the checks/money orders
should be made payable to Stephen Conte. Does this sound right?
Thanks for any help.
