[Genealib] Digitization vs. Keeping old records

Pam - 
Have you consulted the Florida Statutes to 
identify the regulations that would apply to 
the records in question?  From a quick perusal 
online (http://www.leg.state.fl.us/), I found 
a good bit of information in Chapter 119 
Public Records, and Chapter 257 Division of 
Library and Information Services.  It looks 
like the division has to grant approval before 
the records can be destroyed.  Even if that is 
the case, it is quite possible that your local 
officials are unaware that the decision is not 
really theirs to make.
