[Genealib] Ways of treating genealogical periodicals?

Hi Barbara,

In answer to your questions re shelving of periodicals:

1. We are a Society supported library - no financial support except from members.
2. We shelve periodicals separately. LOVE IT! Why...? All are donated or traded. Few are complete. If we were to put them on the main shelves, we would be moving almost the entire collection every time we received a large donation. We have no funds to bind, so we store them in shelfboxes or 3 ring binders (donated/used).
3. We use the Dewey system on the main shelves. On periodicals we shelve them alphabetically by state, then by title.
4. Our stacks are open & we are a very user friendly library.
5. Nothing - except have larger quarters & more money!!!

If any of you should be in the Phoenix/Peoria/Glendale, Arizona area, please feel free to come by & see our library (we are hosting Super Bowl in 2008). We are so very proud of our accomplishments & would like to you to benefit too. Our members are almost all transplants from other parts of the world, not just Arizona, so our holdings are very diverse. See our website www.azwvgs.org

Sincerely,
Peggy Morphew, Volunteer Library Administrator
