To Whom it May Concern,
We believe that we have found the cause of the specific "browser
crashing/freezing while using ALE" error that has been reported from a
number of libraries. We have tested a new fix in house, and with a few
libraries, and it has corrected this specific error in all cases.
A new fix was rolled out today, April 18, 2007 around 1:30 PM MST. We
believe this error only affected computers that use older versions of IE
6.0, specifically IE browser version
6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519. It is very possible, however,
that the error was occurring on different versions as well.
If you are experiencing errors with IE 7 or Firefox, please contact our
technical support team, as your errors are most likely un-related to
this specific problem.
If you have a browser that is still experiencing errors, please close
that browser and open a new one. You can also press the CTRL + F5, to
refresh your browser. These steps should allow the new files we've
rolled to be accessed on your browser. If you are still experiencing
this error after trying the steps above, please contact our technical
support team by calling 1-800-509-3884 M-F 8 AM - 5 PM MST, or if you
are international you can email us at libraryedition at ancestry.com. The
more information we receive, the faster we will be able to troubleshoot
the issue.
Please Note: Again, this error should now be corrected, however, we
suggest that libraries upgrade their version of IE 6 if possible at
their next scheduled system update, or annual system update/upgrade
time.
Thank you,
