Sounds like you could benefit from a network attached storage (NAS) 
device.  It's basically a huge hard drive (500-1000 GB), onto which you 
copy all your CDs.  Because it's attached to the network, all your 
computers should then be able to access the data from the NAS, rather 
than having to handle the actual CDs.  They're not all that expensive-- 
about the cost of a computer or less.  You might want to talk to your IT 
person about the technical details.
