[Genealib] Question for you experts...

Not really an expert, as in copyright lawyer, but I did a book of genealogical abstracts from the Fort Worth Record in 1903. I consulted an intellectual property attorney who said they were likley in public domain. The paper was purchased by others and eventually became part of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, which is still published today.

My understanding is that if the item was publsihed before 1923, it is public domain.

I am ready to start a book on Southeast Alabama Newspaper Extractions:
Obituraries, Marriages, Reunions and Such... This will cover about a
10 year period or more.

I need to know if newspaper information of this type is "Public Domain" or
if I have the right to use these clippings right out of the newspaper.

Thanks ahead!
