Can you stand one more Gretna Green (now that you have completed the list!). In the Chicago Daily News of August 30, 1901, there appeared an article wherein the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago demounced weddings in St. Joseph, Michigan. The priests called them "runaway" marriages. The article went on to say that the former Gretna Green was in Milwaukee, but was now in St. Joseph, Michigan.
I would have posted this back during the flurry of Gretna Green messages, but didn't discover it until just lately.
