We do not charge to scan. We see this as the same as saving to a disk. We do not charge patrons using the computer to save to storage device. Why would you not do the same for a patron using microfilm?
>From our experience, you will have the opportunity to recover costs by selling cds/dvds or by offering full service scanning.

Subject: [Genealib] microfilm scanners

We have three microfilm scanners which we have set up with a coin op
to print to a laser printer. We are considering retrofitting one of
those scanners to scan to a computer. It is a Minolta MS6000. Do
any of you have microfilm scanners which are hooked up to a computer
for patron use? (self service) How do you recover your cost? Do you
ask patrons to pay to make a scan?
