We charge $2.00 per newspaper article/obituary/marriage announcement
etc. Our policy is listed here: www.wcpl.org/newspaper.htm. If the
article is over ten pages then we charge 10 cents a page for the extra
pages plus the cost of extra postage.

We will not do an extensive search for someone, but if a patron who
lives at a distance is looking for a single name related to our county I
have a list of books that I will look in for them. I quote them a price
if they want copies of the materials that I find. There is no charge
for the search.

Subject: [Genealib] Obituary look-up policy

I would like to know what policies other libraries have regarding
obituary
look-ups and other research services you may or may not provide. Do you
charge a fee? Do you require just a self-addressed, stamped return
envelope?
Do you have a restriction on the number of requests that can be made at
one
time? What do you do with requests that require extensive research? If
you
do charge a fee, how much income is generated through these requests?

We do not currently have a policy, and I need to convince our director
that
one is needed. Thanks for your help.
