Anybody know anything about Frontier Press in Cooperstown, NY. I’ve been
trying to reach them with no response to email or fax and no answer at their 800
number.
Sorry for my unresponsiveness, folks. The problem has several components.
1) When I moved the business from Galveston, TX, to Cooperstown, NY, in
1998, my wonderful employee, Christy, did not move with me. [She preferred
staying with her husband, if you can imagine!] Although I tried to find employees
here to take her place, I never did. In fact, in many ways, my employees here
were more trouble than help. I finally ended up doing it alone. But really
the business was far too big for me to manage alone, plus take care of three
children and my mother-in-law.
2) I reached a magical age when I realized that I needed to finish the
bachelor's degree I'd given up many years ago in order to have children. I went
back to college, and the business suffered more.
3) I enjoyed the challenge and stimulation of academia so much that when I
graduated with my B.S., I signed on for two more years and got my M.A. in May
of 2005. Graduate school caused almost a complete cessation of Frontier Press.
4) After graduation, though, I managed to clear out most of the backlog of
orders, complaints, and inquiries, and I actually got back to the pre-1998
flood of compliments on speedy attention to orders and great service. As one
person said on this list however, I am wanting to move on to other things, so my
goal now is to sell out all my inventory. I am getting back to what I do
best, genealogical research and writing, and leaving the bookselling to others.
The lecture I'm giving at Samford is on research that grew out of my Master's
thesis.
5) Starting about 5 months ago, my elderly mother-in-law's health went into
a steady decline, and I served as caregiver. She and my family came first.
Once again, my efficiency at dealing with the day-to-day demands of Frontier
Press has suffered. Once again, I have disappointed customers! This shouldn't
last much longer, however. Hospice estimates that my mother-in-law has only
days to live. [Thankfully, she is at peace and very happy about this.]
I'm sure this is far more of my life history than anyone really wanted to
know. Please accept my apologies if you've experienced bad service due to any or
all of these problems. I anticipate that over the next two weeks or so I'll
be able to clear out the backlog again, and get back to satisfied customers!
In thanks for your patience, any library on this list can take 20% off any
order from Frontier Press. Please be aware of a few things:
Tell me you're on the Genealib list and want the 20% discount.
Understand that the 20% is off anything that is in stock. I'm not ordering
inventory anymore.
Understand that my website has not been updated for about 3 years and you
may order something that is out of stock.
Understand that the next week or so will be a family time for me and that it
may take a few weeks for me to catch up again.
My apologies to everyone I've disappointed.
