Susan,
I think it's safe to say that the Red Book mentioned in the March 8, 2006
Ancestry Daily News and in the May 5, 2006 Ancestry Product Watch is the
exact same as the 3rd edition first offered in 2004. Whoever put together
those announcements simply copied and pasted the ad copy from when the book
was first released, without editing it to remove the part that makes it
sound like it's just come out. I know that there are individuals from
Ancestry who monitor the list, and I'm sure they'll pass along the problem
with the sloppy advertising to the appropriate folks.
(Personally, I just wish they would re-design the cover so that it's clear
that "Red Book" is two words.)

If it had new information, material not included in the 3rd edition
published in 2004, it should be the 4th edition, shouldn't it? To the best
of my memory, the advertising copy also reads exactly the same as it did in
2004 and 2005. I spent a lot of time studying it last year when I had a
copy purchased in 2004 and a copy purchased in 2005 in front of me, and the
two were identical. One of the statements in the ad copy that I thought I
remembered as being a repeat is that this is in recognition of the RedBook's
15th year in print. Well, the first RedBook was printed in 1989, which
makes 2004 its 15th year, not 2006.
Is anyone from Ancestry listening in? What is the copyright date of the
RedBook offered this week, and is any of the content different from the 3rd
Edition of the RedBook sold in 2004 and in 2005?

We were thinking about purchasing the "New" Redbook. How can you tell that
this is a reprint instead of new edition with new information.
Thanks
