Pam,

I wondered if you would have more details. We have most of the books and aren't trying to order any more knowing they have gone away. I was doing a bibliography and ran across some of their pubs. That reminded me that I had never seen a name, so I sent the question to the list. It is odd isn't it that whoever it is/was doesn't want to be identified??

If I ever find out, I'll let you know!!

Thanks, Eric

Eric:
Many years ago, I tried to contact them because the books appeared to be a
duplication of efforts for indexing Virginia material.

If my memory is correct, I recall that when I finally located their
telephone number, they did not reply with a business response and would not
answer my questions. They would only communicate by mail and even then, I
never heard from them. They only had a PO box.

It was the craziest situation and I decided to not buy any more of the
books. But, later on in years I received donations and decided to complete
my collection through other sources. It appeared they wanted to remain
completely anonymous.

I believe they are not defunct, but working under another name and have
moved. Sorry, I cannot remember the name right now.

Our Marc records show no author other than TLC. The mystery continues...

Does anyone know what was the name of the person was who ran the apparently
now-defunct "TLC Genealogy" in Miami, Florida? I don't recall ever seeing an
actual name associated with that publisher or in any cataloging records for
the books they did. It is a shame that whoever this person was gets no
"catalog credit" for all of the work that was done.
