The Miami (Oklahoma) Public Library has one part time paid staff member in the genealogy collection, the Ottawa County Genealogical Society provides volunteers to keep the collection open other times. The library will only accept volunteers if they are a member of the above organization. The library started 2006 meeting or exeeding 2005 usage in media and visitors. This Tuesday at the Volunteer Tea, the library director said that the collection continues to be very busy.

Our patron numbers are increasing. This is due to the doubling of staff,
improved access to collections and a significant growth in programming and
outreach. All made possible by tremendous support from management. We
are open everyday, including three evenings and Sunday, for a total of 65
hours.
