I used to charge at least $1 per mile of distance from my home, but would
usually speak in my own county for a free lunch. But 50 miles from home, I asked
50 bucks, 100 miles, 100 bucks and 1000 miles, 1000 dollars. Maybe $1.50 to
$2.00 per mile would be more reasonable now with the rising costs of gas and
lodging. I got a dollar a mile in the 1980s.
