It will be an exciting year to be at the Disney theme parks, and 2009 Disney College Program participants will have a chance to take part in it all!

Disney Professional Internships Spotlight: Disney's Animal Programs

<http://disneycasting.mindcomet.net/brandmail/cp/newsletters/images/logo_profintern_small.jpg> When students hear about Disney Professional Internships for Disney's Animal Programs, they usually assume they are all at Disney's Animal Kingdom® Park. However, many of these Disney Professional Interns also work in The Seas with Nemo & Friends Pavilion at Epcot®, an accredited animal facility with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

With so many marine animals in this pavilion, it takes a fantastic team of Cast Members including Disney Professional Intern Wesley Tate, to care for the animals and educate our Guests. "We have a lot of Guest interaction, which includes speaking with Guests and conveying conservation messages to them," Wesley said of his role.

<http://disneycasting.mindcomet.net/brandmail/cp/newsletters/images/pi_westate.jpg> During the school year, Wesley helps facilitate school group tours including Ocean Discoveries for younger children and Making Waves, a career-oriented program for older students. "My favorite thing is teaching Guests something new, something that you can see that they have enjoyed learning from you," Wesley said.

According to Wesley, students should find out about all of the opportunities out there. "There are a lot of different internships available, so check out as many as you can," Wesley said.

For more information about this internship and other Disney Professional Internships, visit disneyinterns.com <http://disney.brandmail.mindcomet.com/ct/2596510:3066640493:m:1:14615470:DE43E0C28E8A095F56F7B3E289910452> .

Learn more about Disney Professional Internships for Disney's Animal Programs
The Disney Professional Internships Web site recently launched new content in the Disney's Animal Programs section! Now you can watch videos about the specific internships available that include intern testimonials and actual footage of the work locations. You can also learn more about leaders from this area through leader profiles and pictures.

As with the rest of the Disney Professional Internships Web site, interested students can read job descriptions and requirements of each role, as well as apply online.

Many networking and learning activities available for program participants

There are so many networking and learning opportunities available for Disney College Program participants, they leave feeling like they have truly taken advantage of the "learning laboratories" which are the Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort! Check out a few of these opportunities:

<http://disneycasting.mindcomet.net/brandmail/cp/newsletters/images/pi_soir.jpg> Professional Internship Soiree at the Walt Disney World Resort
Recently, Disney College Program participants had the opportunity to attend the Disney Professional Internship Soiree - a night for participants to learn about various opportunities for internships offered throughout the Walt Disney Company. Participants had the chance to meet and network with the hiring leaders as well as stop by a résumé and interviewing tips information table to receive instant feedback on their résumé and get advice about how to approach an interview.

Disney University Classes
There are many other opportunities available to participants to not only network with company leaders but also grow in their career development. This includes the Disney College Program Alumni Speaker's Series or Career Insights where company leaders discuss their career path and give valuable advice to participants. Participants can also take My Disney Career classes that cover topics such as interviewing, advanced résumé writing, personal branding and business etiquette.

Now even more opportunities to earn credit for the Disney College Program!

The American Council on Education (ACE) recently granted the Disney College Program at the Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort an official credit recommendation for the work component of the internship. Students could potentially earn up to nine semester hours of credit!

This credit recommendation was made based on the comprehensive training each Disney Cast Member receives as well as the participant's ability to apply this training into their daily environment. It was further determined that the skills participants gain while on our program will contribute significantly to their academic and professional careers beyond the program.

Additionally, this ACE recommendation provides the opportunity for more of our students to gain college credit for participating in our programs, allowing them to maintain their full-time status at their home educational institution.
